![]() Race Tips Don't hope for a PR on this course. I love some Nuun, but it was not meant to be used during extended activity. In 2018, there was no Gatorade on the course - just Nuun. ![]() The course is continuous rolling hills - my Garmin Fenix 5X put it at 722 feet of elevation gain. The 5k/10k start an hour before the half/full marathon for some reason, so that meant we didn't start until 9am when it was nice and sunny. There were thunderstorms in the morning, so the race was delayed by an hour. That combined with the hills on the course made this a really tough day. Unfortunately we unseasonably hot weather (70 degrees and sunny) for the race. I loved the experience as a hero and the tour of the hospital was amazing. Jude with a race each year, and I wanted to do the pinnacle race in Memphis. Review There is one reason to run this race: St. The relatively fast course and the normal race day temperature and humidity makes the race a good opportunity for PRs and BQs. The marathon does have many short hills, however, the difference between the high and low points of the course is only about 100 feet. Runners will head back to Danny Thomas Blvd. The route also includes a two loop-run through Overton Park. Runners will enjoy the distinctive neighborhoods like Hein Park and Evergreen's Stonewall St. Runners will then head east to Danny Thomas Blvd. through the bustling South Main District. ![]() Jude Children’s Research Hospital campus, before heading south on Front St. The route takes runners through Downtown Memphis and up 2nd Street to the St. Jude Memphis Marathon course consists of mainly short rolling hills.
